Okay okay, I had better get this written out! David's parents will be here today for a week and well, I've procrastinated. :P
So, August 23-25 we went to Ocean Shores.. which is basically er.. the Ocean? Anyway, its straight west of here, south of Forks (for you twilight fans) and its like a resort TOWN. Not a ton of people around, but its got the nice motels, except its also got pretty much hometown foods. No Olive Gardens or anything, just hometown restaraunts and a McDonalds. Because its so quaint is the reason I like it so much. Its not like Florida where the beaches are full. Maybe its because the water is only 55 degrees or so. Who knows. :P
So we went there for our summer vacation for a few days. I really wasnt expecting anything, only slightly but just the slight suspicions that was more 'hope' than anything. We had a blast really. We got there around 4:00 on Sunday, and checked in, got lazy, and went and got hoodies (since we forgot ours) and then went to a place down the road to eat. Which, by the way, I ordered a grilled cheese off the kids menu because I was full from eating DQ on the drive to Ocean Shores, and they thought it was like the end of the world that I was ordering off the kids menu. Silly place. Anyway, we ate there and then got some taffy, and went to the beach later on and watched the sun sort of set. There were clouds in the distance so it wasnt over the water but it was pretty.
Monday we got up late late late and ate our waffles for breakfast. (Go Quality Inn!) We went to the gift shop that we got our hoodies at and bought ourselves two kites. One Batman, one Yoda. Oh yeah, kids plastic kites. Cheapest ones there. We took them out to the beach and flew them around, and it was so cool to be able to just hold them and they stay in the air cause of the ocean breezes. We walked along the beach a bit with our kites and found a giant beached jellyfish, then went back to our chairs and tied the kites to them and relaxed for a while. We went back to the hotel room and chilled for a bit, and then went back to the beach later on cause David wanted to go walk the beach. (Since we had the kites it was sort of hard) So we walked the beach for like... seriously two miles.. away from all the hotels and stuff.. and out there we found a dead harbor seal! It was so cool to see a wild seal, but sad that it was dead. I think it had been attacked by a shark cause it had a chunk out of its side and it didnt look like it was land animals that did it. We ended up turning around at some point after we couldnt find a completely vacant area. David was looking for a quiet area but I think he was a little shy even if one person was around, looking back on it. So we walked back and found two cars stuck in the sand because they drove on the wrong part of the beach, laughed, and then went back to our hotel room. We then went out on the balcony overlooking the ocean, and we talked a little bit, and thats when he proposed! It was so cute and romantic. He got out the ring and its so pretty.. its pretty much exactly what I wanted.. something small, yet still looks really nice. We hugged and I cried cause I was so happy and I was not expecting anything until he started saying things on the balcony that made me think "Oh my gosh is he going to ask me??" So it was a total suprise. We celebrated by eating pizza at a local pizza shop, buying some more taffy, and going back out to the beach and watching the sun set.. this time the clouds were just high ones so we got to see a pretty sunset and the tide was low and so we got some beautiful pictures! Oh, and I also had to dig up a clam for good measure.
We had to leave early on Tuesday because David had to go back to work, but it was a great time, and I'll never forget it of course! Now we just have to do planning.. which honestly.. I have NO IDEA where to start other than trying to get the date pinpointed.. Which BTW, we are thinking sometime either Late August, September, or October 2010.. we just gotta figure out what date is best. Oh, and it will be in Tecumseh (I hope) at my old church (I hope!) with Hugh being the pastor. (I hope!)

That's the best place to start. Call the church and talk to them about getting the date set, and then get the reception hall set. And then work on the rest. If you need help, holler.
Congratulations, I'm so happy for you! I think that sounds like a great engagement story - minus the dead seal. gross. lol
I love that story!!! I am so happy for both of you!!! I hope you enjoy planning your big day!! And like Randi basically eluded to, you have plenty of married friends you can call upon should you need help!!!
